All about sunstroke
Heatstroke is a type of severe heat illness that causes the body temperature to rise above 40.0°C (104.0°F).
Other symptoms include red, dry or clammy skin, headache, and dizziness. The onset can be sudden or gradual, and complications may include seizures, rhabdomyolysis, or kidney failure.
Heatstroke is usually caused by high outside temperatures or physical exertion. Risk factors include heat waves, high humidity, certain medications such as diuretics, beta-blockers, or alcohol, heart disease, and skin disorders.
First aid for heatstroke:
You can put the victim in a cold water bath or under a cold shower.
Spray the infected person with a garden hose.
Massage the victim's body with a sponge soaked in cold water.
Point a fan at the casualty and spray it with a cool mist of water.
Place ice packs or cold, wet towels on the neck, armpits, and between the groin.
Cover the victim with sheets soaked in cool water.
Conditions not associated with physical stress usually occur in people of advanced age or who have long-term health problems.
