Comparing epidemiological developments in China and some Western countries, an article published in the magazine on Thursday said that "a centralized response to the epidemic" is making China in a good position to confront the disease.
"The speed of China's response was the deciding factor," said Gregory Bolland, director of the Vaccine Research Group at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA.
They moved very quickly to stop transmission. Other countries, although they had a much longer time to prepare for the arrival of the virus, have delayed their response, and this means that they have lost control.
